How to get your movie played at local movie Theaters ?

Also once you do that how do you make money off the theaters for showing your movie + sales. Like these featured films how do they make money they have their movie in 3,000 plus theaters but how do the sales/revenue of their movie get sent to them etc ?

  1. You have considerably different questions and each has different answers. But it sounds more like you have a film and want to get it screened and, ideally, want to make money. Working in reverse... if you have a film and it is done, you can submit it to film distributors or film festivals. Check out withoutabox.com which lists many festivals, their entry costs and other requirements. If you submit, distributors may see your work and contact you. Or contact distributors directly, but they will most likely not likely be too interested if you are an unknown or have no one in it they can sell... so the festival route is better. if you get a distributor, you get a percentage of what they sell to video stores, theaters, amazon, etc... after they deduct their marketing and other costs. Sometimes you also get an advance. Often, after you made a movie or two, you make your money out of teh budget of teh film to make the movie. Your other questions - getting your film in a local theater. 1) you pay the theater to show your film. You essentially rent it out. You usually do this to show your film to get exposure. You may then negogiate getting the ticket sales and a piece of the concession sales. You also have to convert you film to a 35mm print or digital media they can project - it ain't cheap. 2) You show them the film and they love it and they screen it for you (not too likely). you will still have to get them a print. It is tough to do when starting out - you may have better luck at film festivals or making and selling DVDs and seeing if interest is generated.
