why dont the 3d glasses i got at the cinema work on my tv?

I got some 3D glasses at the cinema when i went to see cloudy with a chance of meatballs in 3D. I then bought a 3D movie and game but the glasses don't work when watching 3D stuff on my T.V; instead i have to use the rubbish red and blue ones.

1. Well the glasses you got at the movies were made especially for watching that and other "Real 3D" movies. They don't work for anything else.
2. Well my best guess is the fact that your TV has no special 3d gear/application in it. But I read somewhere that TV's with 3d tech. are being designed.
