In movie theaters in Spain, do movies have English subtitles?
I am going to be in Spain this summer when the new Harry Potter movie comes out. I don't think I can wait until I get back to the states to see it, so I am planning to see it in the movie theaters there. I know enough Spanish to hold a conversation, but I'm not sure I could understand everything said in a movie. Does anyone know if you can see movies with English subtitles? Thanks!

- when i went to mexico i found a theater with english subtitles. i don't blame you i wouldn't want to miss it either! here:http://gospain.about.com/od/madri1/qt/movies_madrid.htm that is for madrid only but if you google what your looking for mostly likely you'll find it.
- No, not a chance. You could find the movie in English with spanish subtitles. Thats the case in where I live. Do yourself a favor, DONT see a spanish version of Harry Potter or any other movie. Any movie translated will not only sound ridiculous but it really removes a great deal of personality from the actors. That's why I cant stand watching them in spanish. Good luck with your search for the english version in Spain.
- they should have it there... im going to mexico and i know the movies there are in both spanish and english
- As it was said above, there are some cinemas in big cities which have the films in English or the original language of the film (called VO, "version original") with subtitles in Spanish. So if you are in Madrid or Barcelona you should make sure the cinema where Harry Potter is run is in VO, that's all. Regarding Harry Potter, it will 100% be in original version in some cinemas, it has always been the case. But what you write about films in Spanish with subtitles in English does not exist.
