How does online movie rental work (apple i-pod store)?

Can someone please explain how online movie rental works? I would have thought once you download something, you'd get to keep it. Does it automatically delete the next day or something? I noticed when you visit i tunes online, you can purchase a movie of rent it. If you rent it, it's not like a regular video store where you take it back. I'd like to know how it works. Does it automatically delete from your computer in a day? That doesn't sound feasable to me. How does it work?

1. When you are browsing for movies from i-tunes, most movies will have two options. 1. To buy it 2. To rent it When you buy a movie, it stays in i-tunes until you decide to get rid of it. When you rent a movie, it will stay in i-tunes for 30 days. Once you play the movie you will have 24 hours to finish watching it. If the 24 hours is up and you haven't finished watching the movie, you will have to re-rent it again. Hope this helps
