Netflix Online Movie Rentals Knowledge Base

What is better for online movie rentals, netflix or blockbuster? I am trying to decide between netflix or blockbuster online for movie rentals by mail. Please tell me reasons why or why not one is better than the other. The only prices i have seen are blockbuster total access 3 movies at a time is $25 a month compared to netflix $18 a month 3 movies at a time. Do both places have movies available the tuesday they come out?
Are Netflix / Blockbuster / iTunes online movie rentals in 16:9 HD? I have an HD tv but I don't want to buy a blu-ray / HD DVD player until the market has settled more. I usually hook up my laptop to my HD TV during parties to play music videos, and am looking for some online movie rental company, whether Netflix, Blockbuster, or the recent iTunes, to rent HD movies to play on my laptop. Basically, what is the resolution of the online videos? Is it Standard Def at 600x800, or is it hi-def at 1280x720? (my tv is only 40" so I opted for a 720p) Also, does anyone know the quality of the sound? I do not have an optical/coaxial port on my computer but I still want the 5:1 surround sound.
Netflix or Blockbuster Online Movie Rentals? I tried both and they both throttle the movies. We know Netflix does it for sure. Blockbuster says they don't but they do. I had 7 movies on Blockbuster that had a wait. I canceled my subscription for 3 weeks and renewed it and the same movies still have a wait. Plus a movie will show available then change to wait. Which is better and why?
I'm looking for a gamefly/netflix-like service that combines game rentals and online movie/tv shows? I know blockbuster gives discounts on game rentals, but I want a keep-it-as-long-as-you-want style service. I don't care that much about DVD movies, though it would be nice. Basically I want games and online tv/movies at the cheapest overall monthly price.
Which is better? Netflix or Blockbuster online movie rental? I want to join netflix but just need input on blockbuster....I just want to hear from people who's used one or the other or both and then make my decision.
I am currently with Netflix movie rentals.. I was wondering about changing to Blockbusters rental? I order my rentals online through Netflix.. but then i find Blockbusters and seem the same.. I was wondering, which one is better?... Thank you..
How to open an online movie & game rental store like netflix.com? Does anyone know what I would need in order to open a website and store that is similar to Netflix. I would like to rent out regular movies, video games and have a seperate page for adults only to rent x-rated videos. I will offer lower prices than Netflix and the same concept of the whole mail order thing from home.
Do movie rentals places and online orders like netflix burn copies of the movies? I've noticed that some of the movies look as though they've been lightscribed, or is it just some kind of special disc they get or something?
Is Netflix a legit online movie rental store? I don't want their service, but if I order their 2 week trial, will I have no problems canceling it? I got this survey offer in my e-mail, that if I complete one of the survey's sponsored offers, I get $50 towards taco bell and one of the sponsors is netflix, which says that they are offering a free trial. Does Netflix ask you for your credit card information or do they just give you the trial for free? Are there any small charges they take out for the free trial? How quick are they about sending movies in the mail? Any information about Netflix will be greatly appreciated.
Online movie rentals offering blu-ray? Are there any online movie rental companies (i.e. netflix, blockbuster) offering blu-ray movies?
online movie rentals for canada? i live in canada and my wife and i watch alot of movies. we are more into older movies rather than new releases and netflix.com has every movie we want but it's only for the U.S. does anyone know of any good canadian online rental webistes?
Online movie rentals? Which is better and faster to rent movies online, blockbuster total access or netflix. i have blockbuster right now and was wondering also how fast netflix is to send them out and process another one to your house.
I heard that there was an online rental company that had instant movie watching online before netflix? I was wondering if anyone possibly knew the name of the company. Someone told me that they were watching the news, and this company has been out for almost 10 years, and they were known for instant online access to watch movies, such as netflix is doing now.
What is a good online movie rental service? I am looking for the lowest price but with fast shipping and overall good movie rental service online. I like to watch around a movie a week, but renting 4 from blockbuster is setting me back $20 a month when I saw on netflix how one movie out at a time is only about $10! I have heard from somewhere that there are some other under the radar movie rental sites that are even cheaper. Any recommendations?
Does anyone here use Netflix or blockbuster on line or some other type of online movie rental? If so, how much do you pay, how do you like it, and how does it work?
What is the best online movie rental service in Canada? I live in Toronto Canada and I want to sign up for an online movie rental service like netflix that they have in the US. What are the best services? Zip.ca appears to be the Canadian version of Netflix (the websites look similar - maybe they are by the same company). But Zip.ca is much more expensive than Netflix which is annoying (e.g. a 3 DVD plan on Netflix is $17 and the same plan on Zip.ca is $25!!). What other options are there? FYI, I plan to rent blu-ray and I plan to rent mainstream movies with less popular artsy movies once in a while plus popular TV series. Thanks for any information
Netflix, Cable On-Demand, and iTunes Movie Rentals: Dolby D surround? I've noticed that my digital cable movie channels through Time Warner Cable are not broadcast in Dolby Digital surround. If I pay Time Warner for a PPV movie purchase, will it be in Dolby D surround? What about Netflix through XBOX360, or online through iTunes?
Which online movie rental place is the best? Which one is your favorite and why? Is it Blockbuster, Netflix, or some other website?
Online movie rental websites? I am looking for an affordable online movie rental store that offers unlimited movie rentals thru the mail that also offers games and adult rentals. I have looked into netflix, blockbuster, intellflix, gameznflix, dvdavenue, and quikfliks. so far none of those offer both adult movies and games. Any ideas?
Movie Rentals: Blockbuster vs. netflix? Recently the local blockbuster just closed down where i live. I really liked renting from there because i could take the movies back within a month without late fees. i was wondering if anyone knew whether if netflix was better for online stuff than blockbuster. if the prices are any different/same...that kind of thing. thanks!
What's the best online movie rental company? I currently use Netflix, but I know there are other company's renting online thru the mail now too, like Walmart & Blockbuster. Which is best in your opinion & Why?
online movie rental free trial? Are there any other online rental companies other than blockbuster..or netflix that offer a free trial?
Online movie rental for Mac? I'm looking for a website like Netflix where I can rent movies and watch them online that will work for a macbook pro. suggestions?
Anybody know a good online movie rental website for Canada, Ontario? I know in U.S. there's netflix and it's like crazy cheap. anything like netflix where you can pay monthly and they'll send you the movie through mail??? I need one cheap for Ontario in Canada. Do we have any??
Is there any other place like netflix? Is there anything else like netflix? I'm looking for somewhere to watch movies online, netflix has that option but they don't have a big selection of movie for their online moveis. They do have a good one for rentals but for online it sucks. So do you know where I can watch movies online and in good quality? Thank you.
Online Movie Rental...? is there a *Legal *Reliable website that is like Netflix which allows you to stream movies for a monthly fee?... ***BUT WITH A BIGGER SELECTION?*** ... a site like blockbuster on demand but not pay per movie more like monthly subscription? THANKS FOR YOUR FEED BAcK in advance :)
What's the best "instant online movies" website besides netflix? I have my computer hooked up to my TV and I have a netflix account. I NEVER order a DVD for rental-- I just watch on the computer. I enjoy watching movies through netflix on my TV, but I wish they had a better selection. Is there any other website or service that I should be looking at?
I was wondering what is the best online rental movie company?? Netflix Versus Blockbuster?? Which of the two is the better deal when renting movies every month in the mail? People who use either service I want to know why Netflix is better or why blockbuster is better to use? Each charge somewhat of a monthly fee and which is the best deal overall to go with? I rent new movies a lot when they release them and usually will only watch them once if its a good movie, If I enjoy it then I'll add it to my collection. HELP!
In South Korea, do they have an online movie rental service? Currently have Blockbuster Online here in the US, was wondering if they have anything similar to that or NetFlix over there.
How much commmission do they get at BlockBuster? I was just wondering how much commission they get for signing people up for the online movie rental thing like netflix. The are relentless at the local store and are earning every penny of whatever the commission is.
Netflix -- problems anyone? Does anyone else have problems with Netflix? Receiving shipments late, receiving broken DVDs, etc. If so, what did you do? Is there any other online movie rental site besides Netflix and Blockbuster?
Blockbuster online movie rental? Okay, so I have this branch of Blockbuster right opposite my house. Does this neccessarily mean that I'll get my dvd real fast(like within 1 working day or 2)? When I send them back the dvds will they be sent back to THAT branch or will they friggin send it to some place far far away so they can delay sending my next dvd? I am interested in choosing the unlimited through mails one since the unlimited in-store exchange plans seems to have less value if it does work the way I mentioned above. If there's any other better 'plan' please enlighten me. Netflix took 5 days(well, yes I included Sunday and Memorial day) to send my dvds, so no thanks to that. It's a blockbuster store... not a warehouse.
Online movie downloads? What is an online movie download rental service and i'm about to limit it a lot... Not including any of the following. 1. Movielink 2. p2p (like limewire or bittorrent) 3. CinemaNow 4. Netflix (or blockbuster... i want to download...) If anyone has any ideas do tell! lol thankyou
I got an e-mail that says I can get a $1000 Wal Mart gift card? I know it's a spam, but when you click on the e-mail, it asks you to fill out a survey and complete 2 offers. Two of the offers are for Free Trials from Blockbuster video online and Netflix movie rental online, which are both reputable companies. What if I were to sign up for the free trial at Blockbuster video and Netflix and than immediately cancel those free trials. That way it will still register with the Wal Mart e-mail saying that I have completed the 2 offers and than my wal mart gift card will be on the way to me. Will this idea work? By putting down my credit card information on Blockbuster and Netflix for the free trial, will the company that sent me the Wal Mart gift card e-mail have access to that information? I wouldn't think so because Blockbuster and Netflix are both secure websites. I think the only thing that would happen is I would keep on getting junk e-mail's for more offers. Any information about this will be greatly appreciated and whether I should go and do this.
NetFlix or Blockbuster Online? I really love movies and lately I've been thinking aobut getting an online rental service. My sister and her husband have NetFlix and they really like it, but they really don't rent a whole lot of movies per month. I am planning to rent about 5-10 movies per month and I have been leaning more towards NetFlix but I am not sure. Also, I do not have a BlockBuster card so I was wondering if you needed to have a blockbuster card previously to rent free movies or games using the monthly discount coupon given by Blockbuster Online? I have heard that Blockbuster censors its movies and I want to get certain unrated movies especially horror movies and comedies. Is that true? But, then again I've also heard about NetFlix's "throttling" but I don't really understand how it works. Help would be appreicated in my decision. Thanks for reading.
Best online adult movie rental? I've heard about websites that are like netflix, but porn....does anyone know of any of these sites, also which one would you reccomend?
Why is blockbuster blocking online rentals? I am a member of blockbuster online and returned my online rentals to the store.but blockbuster has made no effort to mail out movies after i returned them last tuesday,I feel I am being ripped off but i don't want to go back to netflix.blockbuster has made no effort to contact me after several emails I have sent. This is the first week this has ever happened.
Best movie rental download site? What's the best sites to rent movie downloads online, the ones with the best prices and largest movie catalog? Sites like Netflix, Blockbuster Online, etc.
Are Movie Rentals Doomed? With Everyone Renting Them Online Like Netflix And Gamefly, Are Stores Like Hollywood Video And Blockbuster Finished? Also With Gas Prices Going Up Why Waste Gas When You Could Get Them Online?
Netflix v.s. Blockbuster Online? Which is better, the prices are almost identical. With Blockbuster Online i hear you get coupons for other rentals, but i do like the fact you can just download a movie with Netflix. any advice?
Does anyone go to the movies anymore? Does anyone spend gas & monmey to go to the movies anymore despite Netflix, DVD rentals, DVD sales, online movies? Is it worth it for the same concessions & poor seating. (save the Rave theatre center in Las Vegas NV)
Online video 'rental' companies were I can watch movies by streaming them? Anyone know of any video rental companies that give you the option of watching movies online...BESIDES netflix. I have a macbook and netflix won't support it. So I was wondering if there are any others out there that do the same thing but would support a mac.
online rentals? I have Blockbuster online rental services and it not good. I only order T.V. sets and I do have them in order. Actually I enter the complete set and NOT 1 by 1. They send them out of order. I have written to them twice and it's a computer response. Also they take too long to get here. Sometimes I do get them right away but its rare. I live in a city so it's not the mail man not coming or something. Just so you have an idea, in 1 month I guess I get 6-9 Dvd's. i could get the movie pass in store, but not all the shows are there that I want to see. I was wondering if Netflix is the same, or if you know of another online rental site that is better than blockbuster's.
Recording movies while watching online? I was curious that if I become a member to online rentals companies like Netflix, can I than record the movies as I watch them on my computer?
Is there a webpage that can suggest movies I'll like, based on my favourite movies? Basically, I've seen it on youtube, or oldschool music sharing webpages, where the search engine suggests songs/vids you might like, due to songs you've listened to, or favourited. It also compares what you watch and favourites of other people that watch similar things. Is there a webpage that can do this for me? Or maybe one of those online movie rental places, like netflix or something that has a service like this. I've looked everywhere. I'm looking for interesting and alternative movies like Amelia, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless mind, Dreamland, Garden state, Where the heart is etc. etc. etc. I know there must be tons, but without suggestions, I'll never find them. And I'll take suggestions to. But if someone knows of a service/webpage that does this, I'd love to know about it. Thankee
Could really use some help/ideas!!!? I have a PR project deadline for school and I have to come up with a event theme that has to do with promoting an online movie rental service (think Netflix). I could really use some help/ideas, for I've been up all night and cant seem to think of anything!!! My mind has gone blank! :(
I'm looking for a gamefly/netflix-like service that combines game rentals and online movie/tv shows? I know blockbuster gives discounts on game rentals, but I want a keep-it-as-long-as-you-want style service. I don't care that much about DVD movies, though it would be nice. Basically I want games and online tv/movies at the cheapest overall monthly price.
Is there more movie watching sites like Netflix, where you pay to watch them instantly? I'm more focused on just watching the movies online in a legal way by paying. I don't really care about the rental thing, which is quite a hassle for me.
Does Blockbuster online video rental utilize "throttling" like Netflix? I've been using Netflix for a while now but I do notice that they utilize "throttling" - in order to meet "shipping demands" at the end of the month, those who have rented out LESS movies that month get priority for shipping. So say that I have have 12 movies delivered to me on the 20th and another guy has had 2 out. He and everyone else who has had less than 12 movies out will get priority for shipping. Personally, I think it's all a bunch of BS and Netflix utilizes it to limit the number of movies you can take out in a month so that you keep your membership longer. So I was just wondering if Blockbuster has the same policy, because if they don't I might consider switching. Yeah I wish we had Blockbusters around here but we don't. That would be great. We used to have them but a local rental chain of about 5-6 stores ran them out of town, lol. I thought it was good a while back but now, not so much.
Movie Rentals? Does anyone know of any other online sites that are like Netflix? I already looked at blockbusters but i dont like theres. Thanks
Netflix vs Blockbuster, which one is better? I would really love to hear people's experience with either online DVD rental. In town we have a really crappy cable company, so I dropped them. We have been going to the library for the last year (switching between 4) and have pretty much rented almost their entire collection of movies. So I figure I will put in a little bit of money and be able to see a bigger collection (and newer ones!). I can't decide which company to go with, I would pick the 3 movies at a time option. Blockbuster is a dollar cheaper a month and you get discounts for movies rented at the store. They also do not have any fees for Blueray movies. Netflix is a dollar more a month and charges a fee if you rent blueray movies. But they have an option to watch movies instantly online. I don't know how often I would go to the store or watch them online, but those are nice features. Can anyone tell me their experience with either company. I want to know what the turnaround time on movies you want are, if you are usually able to get new releases, the quality of the dvd (are they all scratched up?), and customer service. Thanks for your help!
Question about Netflix/Blockbuster online? All the Blockbusters closed in my area, so I don’t have any place to rent movies now. I now would like to try either Netflix or Blockbuster online. The problem is, with both of them, is that you have to sign up for plans. I’m not the kind of person that rents all the time. I only like to rent on occasions, like once every 3 months. On Netflix or Blockbuster online, is there any way I can just pay per rental instead of signing up for a plan? I hate to have to pay every month especially if I’m not going to rent every month.
Where can I watch full length movies online? I have to watch a movie called John Q for a class. None of our local video rental places have it. I'm willing to pay to watch it, but I need to get instantly pretty much, because our assignment was handed out friday and it's due monday so I don't have time to order it on Netflix or something and wait for it to come. Do you know of any websites that would allow me to pay (or ever for free) to download it or rent it? Itunes doesn't have it
Gamefly, Netflix, Etc.. Worth it? Are online movie and game rental "things" worth getting? Everytime I check a website they only state the starting price.(like $9.99 for first month) Lets say I rent 3-10 movies a month, is it worth it? Or is it better to go to my local video store? Or 1-4 games a month, is it worth it? Do the movies and games come scratched often or rarely? What is the average price? Are there different plans you can get? What is the limit? Do I have to sign a contract? What about Late fees? And in your personal opinion is it worth having?

why do you think netflix is better then blockbuster online? i think blockbuster is better bc you can trade in the movies you get in the mail and get free rentals. Plus still get the movies you have in your quere how ever you spell it. You can not do that with netflix so i do not see how it is better then blockbuster what makes it better if you think netflix is better
Does anybody here rent movies from Blockbuster online? I've been looking into some of the online rental places and haven't read the best stuff about Netflix so I'm curious about Blockbuster. About how long does it take to get a new dvd once you mail the old one back in and what condition are they normally in? We don't have a blockbuster very close by the way so we would probably be doing it all by mail.
GAMEZNFLIX....Looking for a better online video rental service...? I'm currently using Netflix and I have used Blockbuster online but, although they're both okay, I'm thinking of changing to GAMEZNFLIX...they have movies AND video game rentals and I heard they give excellent turnaround service. Has anybody used GAMEZNFLIX that could give me a review of their service? Thanks in advance!!!
Can you register for a Blockbuster membership online? Instead of having to fill out the form in store? I used to use a local video store and then I went to Netflix, but I wanted to get a Blockbuster membership so that if I want to I can pick up a movie in person. Can I register online so that I don't have to do it in store? Or can you only register online for their online rental program that is similar to Netflix? It's not a big deal, but if I could get that out of the way before I went to the store to make a rental that would be great. If not, I'll just fill out the usual membership forms in the store. Thanks for your help.
just curious..? Ok so we know there's Netflix, for renting movies online, and there's Gamefly for renting video games, my question is are the any online rental companies that rent "both"?
NetFlix Questions? Okay, so i'm a 14 year old that LOVES to rent movies. they're great for when theres nothing else to do. And because i cant drive, its sometimes quite a hassal to get to the dvd store and rent some. So, i was thinking of getting Netflix. But first i have a few questions: -Is it worth it? -I was thinking of getting the $8.99 a month plan of 1-dvd-at-a-time, unlimited DVDs during the month. good choice or no? -how fast is the time between me sending back a dvd and getting my second one? -Is there any additional fees? -Does anyone have any complaints? -Has anyone tried any other online dvd rental places like netflix and liked it better than netflix? Thank you!
Places to rent movies online? What are some of the places to rent movies online that has free shipping both ways and at least 2 rentals at a time? Not Blockbuster or Netflix though. Their plans are far to expensive, the $4.99 Netflix one is a good price but only allows 2 rentals a month! I'm wanting something reputable.
Wanting To Know The Good/Bad About Netflix.? I'm just doing my homework into renting movie's online& having them mailed to my house. Instead of going to a rental place locally. I asked this Q in the movie section already. But p/s is a popular place to ask. My main concern is if anyone or have your heard of anyone having issues having netflix NOT RECEIVING the movie(s) back. And the customer had to pay for it. I like the idea of going this way, but just concern on getting the movie(s) back safely. I know that just the price I would have to pay if I go this way.
What PC parts should I buy and how can you tell if the part "is what it is"/"actually works" by seeing it? What I'm trying to do is go to this consumer electronics show that has all things "electronic/computer" at largely discounted prices. I know some of the stuff is big brand names (Sony.Toshiba, etc.) but I don't know what names are good as far as "PC parts" and the difference between a "TV video card" and a "graphics card", "RAM"(I thought 1gb is the most you can get?), and what works well as far as a DVD/CD burner goes? Here's the ultimate goal: A desktop PC that is connected to my 42"plasma and my Onkyo home theater; for the purpose of having a "media center". A)All my video files(from home movies-music videos-Netflix or some other online video rental, etc.)&plays back MP3s B)Acts as a "Tivo/DVR" that connects to the TV/Stereo in pure digital...The Onkyo receiver actually doesn't have that many "optical inputs"(maybe 2-3) and only about 2-3 HDMI inputs C)I'd also like to "sync" alot of home automation equipment as well (X-10 components) D)An emulator to play all the HD video games.
Has anyone else had bad experience with Netflix? I was a member of Netflix. At first, in the two week free trial, they were receiving my return the next day and new movies were arriving the day after they received my return. Then it backed off to them receiving my movies the next day and new movies coming two or three days later. Then it got to where they "claim" they were receiving my movies two days later and then they'd ship two or three days later. I understand, it's still cheaper than renting four a month from the store (that's what you get on average on Netflix), but it's not what I expected from their ads!!! I thought this was a crock of S***, so I cancelled and joined Blockbuster online! It still seems to be only one movie a week (at least theirs was that way from the start though), but they also send out up two four free in store rentals all four the same price as Netflix. I joined at the end of May got two free rentals and now I recieved four already for June! Just looking for some opinions on the two companies! Oh yeah, AND the last time I returned a movie my mom dropped one of my movies (coincidently a free rental that did not count against my movies out) in her towns mailbox (which is further away from a main branch) and I dropped one in ours; Netflix "claims" they got hers the next day, but mine three days later! I know damn well this was because it was a holiday weekend and also the weekend of my billing date, it was so obvious! This is what set me off the most!
Do you return your Blockbuster online rentals at the store? Whats the deal? I used to have Netflix and recently switched because Blockbuster lets me pick up movies at the store. So how does it work? Do I just pick the movies I want to rent and when I get up to the counter return my online movies?
the local blockbusters closed... now what do i do? The local blockbusters closed down... it was almost down the street from my house. I know that a lot of people have asked this question-- i research before i ask-- but they do not answer the question and criteria i need in a movie rental company. so based on the following which is better netflix or blockbusters online: 1) since there is no longer a blockbusters near my house it makes no sense to get blockbusters total access for the in-store trade-in... therefore both are on the same level. 2) i need to get the movies i order fast.... i like more mainstream, newer movies.... I normally only go to the new release section of the store... so i need a company that can get the movies to me pretty fast 3) this kinda goes with #2 but i also need a company that is well stocked on new movies... for example i do not want to wait 1 week for a new movie.. i know it is a little pushy-- but if i am paying for it i want the movies i am paying for... 4) and how do they decide what movie they send u

What is the most important factor you consider when renting a dvd? A. Price B. Availability of new releases C. renal periods D. Other (please specify) 4. About how many dvd do you rent per week?
